A journal of sorts.

I am an avid photographer with a love for digital processing. The Bearded One and I have become "Townies" once again and are in the process of transforming our suburban nest into a peaceful refuge.
This blog is where I like to stash things. An assortment of random thoughts, a recipe or two, a few of my favorite photos, and the processing thereof.

Wet your whistle Wednesday...

Elk on the way to sister's house this morning

Cottage Life

Got to visit my sister today. Always fun. I usually don't get to spend much time with her because of our conflicting schedules. Since I am on "temporarious-unemploymentness" status I had no schedule, so I could cavort with great abandon. Christmas tree farms, glitzy ribbon, bright baubles, and hot buttered rums were involved. It was a lovely time.

A little Christmas Cheer

A few ideas to wet your christmas whistle from Pinterest...

What a great Idea for a family Christmas card.

Before and After

Last night while cruising the web I came across some photoshop tutorials for making "brushes". Now I've made photoshop brushes before. I even use a Signature brush to sign all my photos. It's like a digital rubber stamp. I was watching this guy make his own "fern" brush and it occurred to me that I could use my scanner to make some easy-peasy decorative "digital stamps". I gathered up a couple of odds and ends, ran them through the scanner, took them into photoshop and used the "save brush preset" under edit and TA DA!

Before

Here are my scanned samples...

I've got a snowman ornament, some dried orange slices, a fern, and a cedar sprig.

After

I used the snowman for wrapping paper... it's one brush used with random sizes. notice he can be both skinny and rotund.

The others I've gilded because I like the textures... and to show what's possible with a simple scanner and some odds and ends.

Hmm... I wonder if I could make a "Bearded One" stamp. Let me see If I can get him to put his head in the scanner.

Hmmm... Pause for Thought

We have to have muppets this time of year... It's the rule

Until next time...
